Job Description :
z/OS Mainframe Engineer
Columbus, Ohio
Contract

Responsibilities:
Provide Level 3 engineering support for the enterprise mainframe platform
Verify hardware/software requirements
Install software products
Make recommendations for parameter changes, data analysis, and tuning
Must possess mature critical thinking skills, self-direction, and expert-level troubleshooting abilities
Must be able to perform daily tasks while also striving to improve process and technology

Required Skills:
10 years as a Mainframe Systems Programmer
Expertise in:
o z/OS performance troubleshooting
o Experience determining the root cause for system and sub-system performance issues
o Well-versed in SMF details and using SMF to isolate problems
o Deep experience with DB2, CICS, and MQ subsystems performance from the z/OS perspective
o Expert skills working in a Parallel Sysplex environment
Core z/OS installation, configuration, and management (1.13 or higher)
o Applying PTFs and APARS on a regular basis
Hardware (HCD, HCM)
IBM HMC setup and operations for Reset/Image/Load profiles
zEC12 and/or z13 installation
Automation (Auto Operator and/or Tivoli System Automation)
Communication and presentation skills
Effective communication on a technical level, and at a strategic executive level (C-Suite)
Working Knowledge of:
o z/OS Networking (CommServer)
o z/OS Security (RACF)
o CICS, DB2, MQ
o CICSPlex, DB2 Data Sharing, MQ Shared Queues
o z/OSMF (installation, configuration, usage)
o Mainframe Storage
DFSMS
Tape management
o GDPS
Bachelor’s Degree
