Position: System Administrator
Face to face interview
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 3-6months contract to hire

This position is part of the technical and professional service group and is critical for supporting the College’s Infrastructure Operations. Their level of expertise in VMWare and Datacenter Server Operations will be beneficial for providing assistance to on-going internal projects and maintenance activities mostly within the systems administration area of responsibilities. Provides initial design, implementation, administration, and technical documentation of all enterprise infrastructure systems with minimal supervision. Oversees daily operations of systems support functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform daily systems monitoring.
VMWare product suite installation, configuration, and maintenance but not limited to vCenter, ESXi, and Update Manager.
Develop VMware vCenter and vROps reports for performance and capacity planning.
Maintenance of server backups and snapshots.
Perform upgrades and firmware patches for virtual infrastructure software or hardware.
Perform upgrades and firmware patches for physical infrastructure software or hardware.
Participate in the on-call support rotation for 24/7 operations.
Provide configuration management and security compliance for virtual/physical infrastructure and datacenter server equipment.
Standardize virtual server provisioning and support SysEng automation efforts.
Perform advanced troubleshooting on issues and root cause analysis to prevent future incidents.
Assisting with the evaluation of next generation hardware and ensure direct fit with the College’sInfrastructure and business use-cases.

Writing and maintaining scripts to improve system management tasks.
Participating in your change control process for all planned application and technical activities.
Maintaining and testing processes related to business continuity. Follows vendor and VMware best practices for hardware and software configuration.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible, work-related experience designing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows server, application deployment with platforms such as VMWare
Experience with business continuity and disaster/recovery planning with respect to Infrastructure systems.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other technical field or equivalent experience
VMWare Professional certification a plus
