Job Description – Splunk Administrator
Duration : Long term

I’m looking for 2 strong Splunk ADMINS with version upgrade experience (for a 6 month project) and also a Splunk person strong in on boarding data sources (potentially longer term)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer and monitor Splunk environment across all environments
At least 2-4 years working with distributed systems in a production UNIX environment
Experience using or supporting centralized logging infrastructure -Splunk
Plan, deploy and document architecture components, monitoring & alerting setup, troubleshooting guides.
Onboarding new data as well as new customers to Spunk. Work with new customers to ensure they are getting the most out of the data and help design new applications for their specific use.
Test new versions and components in QA environment for promotion into Production.
Mentoring other engineers within the organization on the capabilities and technical knowledge of the Splunk environment.

EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of experience is needed for a successful applicant.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years Splunk experience building dashboards and performing analytical searches within the Splunk application.
Experience with virtual technology, such as VMWare ESX. Experience with OS environment running one or more databases including SQL or Oracle desirable.
Working knowledge and experience with key ITIL processes is required.
Previous application development coding, debugging, testing and delivery into a production environment are highly desirable.
A solid understanding of compute performance metrics and tools is highly desirable
At least three (3) years of Linux scripting (SH, BASH, KSH)
At least three (3) years of hands-on experience in IT systems administration on Windows and UNIX platforms (Red Hat Linux, Solaris, AIX or equivalent)
Requires in depth knowledge of supported operating systems, utilities, vendor products, applicable programming languages, diagnostic techniques, terminal dialog techniques, database management systems, teleprocessing monitors, benchmarking methodologies, applicable communications protocols, applicable hardware configurations, use of statistical and analytical tools for system monitoring and evaluation.
Knowledge of technology, network, data and applications architectures.
Requires proficiency in use of desktop based productivity applications, networking and open systems standards.
Requires analytical and design ability, high degree of creativity; knowledge of the business implications of technical approaches, directions and solutions
Superior communication skills required
