Skill Set Needed: We are seeking a Senior Java developer with primarily full stack experience. For this particular role, the ability to clearly identify and explain your projects, your role in those project, and what the end result of those projects were are critical. If you read through your resume, this will simply not do…we need individuals who can go into depth and detail on what they did, what their responsibilities were, and the end result of the projects that they have been on. Here are some requirements for this role….we are looking for at least 5-7 years in the following:
Java / J2EE experience including:
Servlet
JSP
TAG Library
JDBC
Hibernate & Spring
Tomcat, WebsSphere or equivalent (setup and configuration)
jQuery & JavaScript
Outside of the Java technologies you bring to the table, here are the soft skills that are as important as the technical skills needed for this role:
Ability to work with – from an analytical perspective – with non-technical business users.
Ability to clearly articulate to the business side of the house on progress.
TDD skills are preferred. We are seeking individuals who know how to test their code (manual testing and execution of test plans would certainly be a nice thing to see
Ability to be self-directed (in other words, not being told what to do), but also work as a team member to drive towards a common goal.
From the database side of things, we are seeking basic data skills such as the ability to write queries, and the basic understanding of how databases work.
An understanding of how the business side of the house works. We are not seeking a BA, but we are seeking the basic skills of – for example – revenue cycles, manufacturing processes, lean concepts, etc Again, we are not seeking a BA, but we are seeking individuals who understand what businesses do and how they make money.
