Job Description :
The Information Technology Services (ITS) is a central division of the University System of Georgia (USG The USG is comprised of 28 higher education institutions 28 institutions enroll over 315,000 students each fall.

The senior Cognos developer position will contribute about 50% of their time to a Cognos upgrade and 50% to Dashboard development. USG is upgrading Cognos from 10.2.2 to Cognos Analytics v11. The position reports to the Director of Business Intelligence.

Job Description

Cognos v11 upgrade and migration

Aware of known issues and limitations, advise advantages/disadvantages of certain design decisions related to the upgrade, recommend best practice for the upgrade
Provide and implement solutions to resolve technical difficulties encountered during the upgrade process, and gaps between Cognos 10.2.2 and Cognos Analytics v11
Review and performance tune Cognos server installation, environment and configuration
Enabling/supporting Cognos Connection portal pages
Installing and configuring Cognos Mobile and other features
Troubleshoot Break-fix report development resulting from the upgrades.

Recommend technical solutions for USG by Numbers public dashboards project (active report? Dashboard? Report Studio
Develop USG by Numbers public dashboards in areas of Enrollment, Graduation Rate, Retention Rate and Degree Conferred based on the business requirement
Make dashboard mobile compliant


Expert level for IBM Cognos 10 and Cognos Analytics v11
Experience with Cognos upgrade from 10 to v11
Familiar with Cognos Analytics v11 new functionalities, like dashboard
Extensive experience with Report Studio in Cognos 10 and 11
Familiar with cube concept, design and best practice in Cognos 11
Skillful in Oracle database
Familiar with dimensional database structure, like star schema design
Strong data analysis and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills
Higher education working experience strongly preferred.
