Position Title: business analyst
Location: Houston, TX
Your key accountabilities:
Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management
Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
Identifying and executing business process improvements, data mining, and process analysis
Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
Performing reporting, research and analysis duties to support operational and strategic management decisions.
Develop and deliver executive-level reports and analysis (using SQL, MS Excel and / or MS Access) for key strategic initiatives.
Perform complex data extraction from various sources, analysis and data mining to deliver actionable insights in a timely manner, while ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity.
Operate as a consultant with internal partners to define solutions that balance business and customer needs
Documentation of work processes
Participate in the development of revenue generating and saving opportunities
Demonstrate ability to solve complex problems and offer creative suggestions for alternative designs and methods
Your background includes:
Experience with MS SQL Server
Strong Excel modeling skills
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or closely related discipline
Minimum of five years of business analysis experience
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and tight deadlines
Proven ability to document business, functional and non-functional requirement specifications, from initial phase to final implementation
Effective at managing multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meeting deadlines and working well under pressure
Good understanding of relational databases and previous experience querying and reporting data from SQL databases
Assertive, self-motivated, and goal oriented.
Proven problem solver that is comfortable with assumptions and abstract analysis
Able to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely in English (written and oral)
Resourceful with the desire to initiate change
