Job Title: Windows Systems Engineer
Location: St. Petersburg, Florida – Face 2 Face Interview
Duration: 6+ Months
Transferring 100 applications from Windows 2002 and 2008, to Windows 2012. They will be required to have experience in PowerShell scripting, and IIS experience.
5+ years’ experience with ALL of the following :
Windows Server, IIS
Linux
Concepts, principles and practices of systems administration.
Concepts, principles and practices of database administration.
Monitoring tools
Active Directory understanding, TCP/IP networking protocols, DNS.
Network and security concepts and technologies.
Shell, Perl, Python, or Ruby.
Project/Quality Management.
ITIL Practices/Change control
Day-to-day Job Duties:
Act as primary troubleshooting resource or escalates issues as needed.
Engineers and implements new monitoring methods.
Uses monitoring tools to uncover the backend dependencies for applications and make sure that they are instrumented appropriately.
Work with performance team to identify bottlenecks in applications.
Triage degraded / outages situations in a production environment in order restore system health.
Ensures availability, security and integrity of assigned systems.
Evaluates and identifies ways to automate, streamline, and improve day-to-day maintenance and administrative practices.
Installs or coordinates installation of updates/patches and releases on development, test, pre-production, and production systems.
Manages and maintains complex systems.
Ensures adherence to Service Level Agreements regarding application availability.
Serves as central point of contact and as a liaison to other IT departments and vendors.
Effectively manages communication between end users, vendors, and IT departments to solve production, pre-production, test, and production environment problems quickly.
Creates and maintains accurate system run book for assigned systems.
Assists in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning on assigned systems.
Participates in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including assisting with fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans
