Windows Systems Engineer

Location: Menlo Park CA

Duration: 6 +months

Objective: Ensure the stability, integrity, security, and efficient operation of the company’s information systems by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all systems.

Areas of Responsibility:

· Provide design, support and administration for directory domain and authentication services: Microsoft Active Directory 2012 R2/2016

· Provide design, support and administration for Single Sign-On and Identity Management solutions
· Provide design, deployment and support for server technologies: Windows Server 2012 R2/2016

· Provide design and support for messaging technologies: Microsoft Exchange Online (Office 365)
· Provide design and support for collaboration technologies: Microsoft S4B Online (Office 365)

· Provide design and support for Hypervisor technologies: VMware vSphere
· Troubleshoot and resolve user issues with systems escalated from 2nd level support.

· Collaborate with infrastructure staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of all systems.
· Integrate appropriate industry standards and best practices as it relates to configuration, performance, security, availability, maintenance, and continuity of enterprise server systems.

· Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.

· Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
· Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.

· Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system-related products and services.
· Take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution even when other resources are required to assist in the solution.

· Promote customer service, teamwork, communication and collaboration within and between departments.

Position Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and/or minimum of 7 years work experience performing tasks as described in the areas of responsibility section above.

· A minimum of 5 years’ experience administering Microsoft Active Directory.

· A minimum of 5 years’ current working experience deploying and supporting Microsoft server and desktop technologies: Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 7/8/10.

· Proven experience with system security management.
· Working technical knowledge of current network protocols and Internet standards.
· Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution experience.

· Competence with testing, flowchart, and data mapping tools and procedures, including Microsoft Visio.
· Ability to be on-call as needed.

· Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Must possess and apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate and resolve issues.

· Demonstrated customer service skills and willingness to work directly with customers to resolve system issues.
· Ability to mount equipment in rack enclosures up to 7 feet in height.

· Ability to take direction and execute according to plans and timelines.
· Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.

· Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

· Minimal travel up to 25%
