Windows Systems Engineer
JOB PURPOSE: The Systems Engineer for Microsoft Platforms will provide support and implementation for Microsoft Windows based systems, Microsoft Active Directory, VMware vSphere Suite and Microsoft Exchange Server to include all enterprise email components. This individual is a member of a team responsible for all system activities related to managing the enterprise computing and email systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with software and hardware maintenance and updates, installation of new products, performance evaluation, capacity planning and producing related system metrics. Also responsible for researching and formally documenting system software and hardware configurations. Responsible for working with Sr Engineers and Architects to design and architect new processes and systems. Responsible for mentoring junior members of the Infrastructure organization. Performs deployments and configurations, as required, without supervision. Assists in generating standard monthly reports. Uses monthly reports to perform capacity planning for equipment upgrades and replacement and assists in the evaluation of new technologies within the Infrastructure team. THE CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE.
Senior level proficiency with two of the following technologies
1. Senior level proficiency with Windows Server 2008 and Windows 2012
i. Thorough understanding of Windows clustering/HA
ii. Thorough understanding of Windows client/server licensing
iii. Thorough understanding of Microsoft IIS
iv. Experience creating and implementing Windows Server hardening standards
2. Senior level proficiency with Microsoft Active Directory Services 2008 and 2012
i. Thorough understanding of creating, applying and reverting Group Policy Objects to systems and users
ii. Thorough understanding of FSMO Roles and how they affect the domain/forest where they reside
iii. Thorough understanding of Microsoft DNS and DHCP
iv. Experience implementing and managing security measures in a Delegated Active Directory Environment
v. Experience using AD Tools such as LDIF, ADSI, ADAC, ADUC, ADSS,ADDT
3. Senior level proficiency with Exchange 2010/2013 in a DAG environment
i. Thorough understanding of e-mail routing methodology
ii. Thorough understanding of Client/Server communications and licensing
iii. Thorough understanding of backup and restore operations
iv. Experience creating and managing Exchange compliance and retention policies
v. Experience using Exchange Admin Center WUI and Exchange Management Shell
4. Senior level proficiency with VMWare vSphere version
5 and later in a multi-datacenter vCenter managed environment
i. Thorough understanding of vCenter
ii. Thorough understanding of VMware clustering, VMFS Datastores, distributed switches
iii. Thorough understanding of VMware vMotion
iv. Experience creating and maintaining VMs and templates

Bachelor’s Degree
Experience with basic and/or advanced TCP/IP networking concepts

Experience with ProofPoint Email Security
Experience with Trend Micro Deep Security
Experience with Rubrik Backup

Experience with Heat (formerly Lumension) patch management solution
Experience managing computing systems in PCI compliant environment
Experience delivering application in a network load balancer environment
Experience configuring SSL Certificates
Technical Certifications in Windows Server, Exchange Server and/or vSphere
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Utilizes extensive system knowledge to assist in maintaining the enterprise system software and hardware to achieve maximum performance and reliability. 2. Installs and configures new system software and hardware as required, ensuring compatibility with existing systems. 3. Optimizes criteria for performance evaluation of system software and hardware, making recommendations to update established guidelines, where appropriate 4. Produces formal, written system requirements documentation using the standard templates provided in the software development methodology. Creates and updates standard operating procedure and other related documentation with guidance from a Sr Engineers, Architects and/or Manager, if required 5. Proactively monitors systems for errors or notifications and takes appropriate action to resolves technical issues. Liaises with DBAs and Business Analysts to assist in establishing future system software and hardware requirements. Writes scripts or utilizes software tools to automate process where possible. 6. Proactively monitors backup systems for errors and takes appropriate actions to resolve technical issues, including re-running backups as required. Creates new policies as required. Performs required restores. Performs capacity planning to meet organizational data growth backup requirements. 7. Coordinates vendor maintenance, hardware maintenance and software maintenance in accordance with departmental guidelines and PCI guidelines. Maintains budget information related to maintenance and licensing costs.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Performs on call duty as required. 2. Performs other duties as assigned. 3. Job duties as assigned as part of ALSACs Business Continuity Management Program, including annual maintenance and testing of business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency response plans. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT ALTERNATIVE: High school diploma plus 9 years related ALSAC exempt experience or ALSAC non-exempt.
