Job Summary:
This position will involve working in a team environment involving frequent collaborative efforts with Network, Open Systems, and Telephony Services. The VMWare Engineer will have overall responsibility for the administration of the Open Systems components of the IT data center. This person will be responsible for all related critical service levels, delivery of troubleshooting and problem resolution in accordance with Service Levels covering the standard hardware, software platforms and approved application portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and ensure maximum performance and availability is provided from every aspect of the server infrastructure
Design, install, maintain, and support corporate and production environments
Manage the Virtual Infrastructure running VMware ESXi 5.x
Configure and setup VMware hosts running ESXi 5.x
Build, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Servers 2003, 2008, and
Develop server solutions and implement within a complex virtual environment
May lead or direct the work of others, providing training and quality assurance for their work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Additional years of professional experience may be substituted
5+ years’ experience as a Windows Systems Admin and/or VMware Systems Admin
2+ years VDI administration experience
Ability to troubleshoot all layers of ESXi and related VI components
Solid experience implementing, troubleshooting, and administering Windows 2008/2012 Servers, Exchange Server 2007, VMware ESX, Active Directory, and Group Policy
Strong technical acumen with a deep knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESX and related technologies
Understanding of MS SQL Servers 2008/2012
Experience with enterprise systems management solutions.
Able to participate in an on-call rotation
Understanding of Change Management process preferred
Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, both written and verbally
Monitor projects beginning to end to ensure their success
