System Administrator

Windows Sys Admin

Position Purpose
The Systems Administrator-Staff position performs administration and provides operational support for corporate systems including hardware and OS system availability, performance tuning, installation, security, and troubleshooting. Staff-level professional experienced in all aspects of systems administration. Encompasses full knowledge required within the systems specialty area. Functions independently with minimal oversight and direction. May instruct and guide other technical professionals.

Essential Job Duties
Assists customers and management in setting strategy for current and future architecture related to technologies associated with systems.
Mentors other team members to increase their skill and knowledge.
Manages small and medium projects as needed.
Creates and drives quality initiatives to improve processes and increase efficiencies.
Assists in providing solutions to issues in all areas of technology related to systems.
Identifies and initiates changes that continually improve a positive open team environment.
Assists in the design and implementation of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery to ensure effective protection and integrity of assets.
Helps drive monitoring to reduce the risk of hardware failure, excessive resource consumption, and service outage.
Makes recommendations regarding processes that can be automated. Suggests improvements to preexisting automated processes.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor''s degree in computer science or Information Systems. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
or Four years equivalent technical experience in systems administration or related technical field.
Three years of systems experience.
Demonstrated working technical knowledge of systems administration (hardware, protocols, standards, hands on troubleshooting, performance tuning, and monitoring tools
Business process and reengineering experience, as well as an understanding of the relationship between processes and policies.
Demonstrated experience solving server/operating system problems that reduce impact to customers/end-users.

Physical Requirements
Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.
Operate computers and other IT equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
See and read computer monitors and documents.
Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

ITIL Foundations Certification
