Cisco Network Engineer – Perm Hire (possibly contract to perm) 

The Network Engineer is responsible for network life cycle management, capacity planning, network tools, and data center projects related to the company network. This includes operating system reviews, 
Job/Position Summary:
Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Protects organization''s value by keeping information confidential.
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Position reports to IT Manager.

WAN (Cisco ASA Firewalls, Routers) and VPN(IPSec and SSL) 75%
LAN (HP Switches) 10%
Wireless Network (Ruckus) 10%
Corporate Phone System (ShoreTel) 5%

Number of Direct Reports and Indirect Reports:          

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):  

10+ years’ experience working with HP or Cisco network equipment.
5+ years’ experience with security.
Experience with business process analysis for the successful implementation of technology.
Experience negotiating with and managing outsourcing vendors and SLA’s/actual service delivery.
Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
Technical certifications that indicate network and systems knowledge are preferred.
Experience in implementing and managing a corporate telephony/VOIP solution.
Experience in implementing/managing a disaster recovery processes and procedures.
Strong technical project skills and goal-orientation, with a track record of successful beginning to end execution.
Experience proposing and closing technical projects with other departments and customers.

Working Conditions: 
Core office and work hours are Monday-Friday, from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. 
Overnight travel is less than 5%.  
The position does require nights, after hours and some weekend work. Requires on call alternate weekends carrying company cell or pager device.
Requires working with power, heavy lifting and working in a controlled cold environment on occasion.
