3) Shell Scripting - Ability to create scripts from scratch and strong ability for command line changes.
Job Description :
Work with a high degree of independence to perform administration activities to ingest new feeds into Splunk, or make modifications to existing feeds. Participate in the continuous maturity of feed intake automation and strengthening of the production release process. This role is focused specifically on the intake and ingestion of data into Splunk this is NOT a position for development of dashboards or reporting.
Additionally, this is Splunk implemented in a very large enterprise. It is critical to success to have experience in an environment with structured change controls, extensive clustering, and ingestion from thousands of devices totaling terabytes of daily ingestion.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
1. Working with a data feed owner, the engineer will process intake requests to instruments data feeds into Splunk
2. Follow established standards in the instrumentation of data feeds into Splunk
3. Instrument the feed into a lower environment to sample feed accuracy and data volume
4. Open and track requests for related access rights, network config changes, etc that are required for fulfillment of the Splunk feed request
5. Maintain the lifecycle status of the feed in our reporting system
6. Coordinate release of feeds into production
7. Review post-implementation to address any modifications required to a feed
