Position: Visual Designer
Duration: contractor request (6 month right to hire)
Location : Cleveland, OH

Start date – immediate
No sponsorship or relocation.
US Citizen or green card minimum.
Salary for perm – depends on level of experience.

The Visual Designer will help shape the concept, design and execution of Sherwin-William’s leading web and mobile applications while working alongside colleagues in a dynamic, agile environment.

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning
Create visual designs and interaction experiences that address business, user and brand requirements.
Spend time with project owners & team members to learn about goals, attitudes, behaviors and needs.

Acquisition & Deployment
Create compelling design treatments for web sites and mobile applications from concept through completion of development-ready assets.
Partner with UX designers to analyze requirements and create an optimized user experience.
Apply user experience and design principles in the execution of high-fidelity mockups and interaction flows.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers and developers to ensure designs are feasible, scalable and executed correctly.
Assist with user research techniques as appropriate.

Operational Management
Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of a user centered design while being able to take and give productive criticism.
Work alongside and collaborate with user experience designers, developers and other team members as a valued contributor in an agile work environment.
Help establish and contribute to the continual improvement of our UX & Visual design and development process.

Incidental Functions

Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the work.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification
Bachelor Degree in related field or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience
2+ years IT experience.
2+ years of visual design experience for software, interactive, web applications and/or mobile devices.
An ability to create overall visions/concepts with a strong attention to pixel-level detail and craftsmanship.
Understanding of typography, layout, graphic design principles and user experience principles
Interest in working with customers, business stakeholders and IT team members to formulate designs that meet both business and end user needs.
Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite.
Understanding of capabilities and constraints of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, responsive UI frameworks and HTML.
Comprehension of user-centered design practices and processes.
Ability to create information architecture diagrams, wire frames, prototypes, and screen flows.
Portfolio of 3+ work samples required. Please include with resume submission.

Physical Activities/Capabilities/Work Environment

Sit for extended periods of time; walk and stand occasionally.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components constantly.
Lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers, devices, and peripherals occasionally.
Work environment involves everyday risk or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, i.e., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
Work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
Travel not required.
Work outside the standard office 7.5 hour workday may be required.
