We currently have custom software written in Visual Basic (VB) residing as a macro within Microsoft Excel.
Recent updates to Excel have disabled much of the code. This is a recurring problem with automatic updates from Microsoft.
We need to take the program and port it to a platform that is outside of Excel where it will not be affected by updates pushed from Microsoft.
The program will need to open/write and close files. All functionality of the program should remain the same.
The consultant will be working with a small team who are familiar with software development, although not current on newer languages.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience with visual basic as used by Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of file handling in machines currently used (Windows 10 and older)
3+ years of experience with current software languages
o Will need to move existing code currently written as a macro in Excel using VB into a stand-alone program (outside of Excel
