Senior DBA is a mission critical Team Player and Leader that has the ability to see the big picture including the full relationship between the systems and operational deliverables, and the customer experience. Key Performance Indicators include: uptime, performance of systems, quality of data, level of service, and customer and employee satisfaction. This senior position in the Database Group, requires that the candidate have the ability to move seamlessly between strategic systems and operations planning, hands- on DBA implementation and management as dictated by business needs. This position will have primary responsibility for the development of a deep and functional DBA team that monitors and operates our business-critical data systems. The successful candidate will possess the experience and knowledge to independently execute the Lead Database Administrator role; particularly in the areas of production support, data replication management, fail-over processes, DBA on-call duties, and management of the DBA team.



Primary Responsibilities

· Translates system and application requirements into system architecture that will meet business needs, including server infrastructure, capacity planning, storage requirements, and networking protocols;

· Actively monitors all aspects of server, storage, and network performance to identify and fix key bottlenecks and performance issues;

· Defines and owns Disaster Recovery strategy (keeping the systems up and healthy); Owns all aspects of data replication to internal and external systems, with particular focus on the support, maintenance, and development of the client database product (DataSignals Private);

· Develops and operates ETL/data integration solutions for propagation of key data assets to disparate storage technologies and infrastructure, including HDFS, Hadoop, cloud databases including RedShift, in support of cloud and bare-metal analytic solutions and new products;

· Leads team of DBAs, as well as managing third-party contracted database resources;

· Has primary ownership of managed service/hosting relationship management;

· Lead and staff on-call DBA support team during non-business hours for business 24x7 uptime requirements;

· Research, evaluate, and integrate new software, software versions, drivers, and hardware;

· Serve as key member of cross-functional security team;

· Respond to and resolve incident and problem tickets;

· Work closely with customer support team to communicate the root cause of outages, duration, and recommendations or steps to resolve issues.



Desired Qualifications and Experiences:

· 10 years Oracle Database experience;

· 10 years PL/SQL;

· 10 years Linux (preferably Red Hat);

· Shell scripting;

· SQL tuning;

· Infrastructure/system design and engineering experience;

· Knowledge/Experience with IO-optimized storage systems, particularly SSD and NVMe;

· Strong Project Management and Communication skills;

· Direct experience managing both direct and indirect reports;

· Past P&L or budgetary responsibility;

· CDC based replication experience, preferably Shareplex;

· Cloud experience, particularly with alternate data stores.
