Job Description :
Title: VB6 Developer
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 8 Months Contract
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use
Serve as technical expert on development projects
Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design
Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements. Support, maintain, and document software functionality. Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation
Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed
Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs
Conducts tasks and assignments as directed
Works under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment
Project Specifics:
Individual will be primarily working on the Call Center Agent tool
Project consists of converting the project from EZR to the Compass platform
Will report to the a Scrum Master and technical lead
Individual will be responsible for making updates in the current and new platform simultaneously as not all department have been transitioned over to the new platform yet
Skills/Knowledge:
5+ years’ experience with VB6
Requires VB6 development experience
Required object-oriented development experience
Requires experience with client/server architecture
Requires experience with MS SQL Server 2008 or higher
.Net development experience in C# strongly preferred
Experience with consuming REST, SOAP and other web services strongly preferred
Experience with ASP.NET MVC 4 and higher desirable but not required
Requires experience with source control tools like Team Foundation Server, GitHub, SVN, etc.
Requires experience with IDE’s such as Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, etc.
Requires moderate skill sets and developing proficiency within discipline
Bachelor’s degree preferred
