GENERAL FUNCTION:
This is a Lead DB2 z/OS DBA (DB2 Mainframe) position, responsible for supporting the organization’s DB2z databases and ensuring their performance, availability, and security. The Lead is viewed as an expert in the administration and support of database technology. The candidate is expected to communicate common goals and direction for the team and also provide superior technical leadership.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for database design, development and administration of large scale Operational, OLTP and
analytical data structures including logical and physical design

Provide SQL performance tuning on both OLTP and Data warehouse environments
Optimize DB2 resource utilization by tuning queries, recommending indexes, and configuring database parameters
Provide data migration support
Provide trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management
Lead, mentor and/or provide guidance to less experienced database analysts where applicable including guidance for troubleshooting escalated issues
Partner with offshore DBA resources and thoroughly document processes to ensure successful implementation by offshore staff and Production Control
Provide oncall rotational 24/7 Incident Response to database alerts from production monitoring tools and Command Center personnel
Analyze Key Performance Metrics and make recommendations for improvements
Provide input on the selection and implementation of all database administration tools
Maintain the integrity of data within the production environment including the execution of proper backup and restoration policies and procedures which provide point-in-time restore capabilities (disaster recovery)
Enhance site monitoring to improve availability and performance
Perform database capacity planning and trend analysis
Deploy database changes in strict accordance with change management policies and procedures
Interact and coordinate work with System Administrators, Project Managers and fellow team members to support various project requests

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM KINOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUUIRED:
Bachelor''s degree in CS/MIS or equivalent experience
Minimum of 7 years of heavy DB2z database administration experience and production support
DB2 V10 or above experience
Experience working with very large database partitioning
Experience working with large systems in data sharing sysplex environment
Preferred experience in data modeling with Star Schema and *Operational Data Store* concepts
Experience with evaluating and consolidating database workloads to maximize hardware resources
Experience working with IBM Admin tool suite, Query Monitor, and Omegamon v5.1 or above (DB2 PE)
In-depth knowledge of DB2 utilities such as LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTAT, REORG, COPY, COPYTOCOPY, MERGECOPY, MODIFY and SPUFI.
Solid understanding of DB2 client tools such as Data Studio, and Omgeamon XE Client
Hands on experience with performance tuning of complex SQLs
Experience with XML
Experience tuning complex SQLs
Experience with DB2 Stored Procedures (SQL, Native and COBOL)

Prefer experience with IBM Optim Move for DB2
Prefer experience with Erwin or IDA data modeling tools
Prefer that the candidate has worked in an onshore/offshore model
Prefer that the candidate has experience with IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator (IDAA)
Prefer DB2 V9 or V10 database certification
Candidate must have excellent communication skills
