Summary of Opportunity

Need for a Senior SAS Application Specialist for a 6-month contract with our client in downtown Dayton. This individual will provide subject matter expertise for technical guidance, training and direction with a team of development professionals.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Build, maintain, and restore the operational readiness of the application infrastructure in a mission critical computing environment.
2. Responsible for managing SAS and assigned software products.
3. Lead technical projects from inception/design through implementation.
4. Coordinate vendor relationships and commitments on project involvement/deliverables.
5. Design and implement systematic approaches and alternatives.
6. Identify and document business requirements for new development projects and prepare detailed technical specifications from which programs or infrastructure can be built.
7. Conduct preliminary studies to define needs and determine feasibility.
8. Confer with clients and analyze business/functional requirements.
9. Develop procedures for moving program changes, enhancements, etc. into IT production processing.
10. Understand and relate business/functional requirements to application/infrastructure requirement.
11. Lead service support activities and initiatives
12. Initiate and lead support activities including problem analysis, technical evaluation, work estimates, and implementation services
13. Provide expert technical support for managing application involving diverse platforms
14. Coordinate support or project activities with all applicable constituents including customers using the systems, IT staff supporting the systems, vendors/third parties, and/or business managers
15. Identify and lead, as assigned, resources and communications to facilitate work completion
16. Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of application platforms, industry directions, and trends
17. Provide technical guidance, training, and work direction to less experienced engineers
18. Demonstrate technical proficiency in development and implementation of medium and complex systems and/or computing infrastructure through ability to guide others
19. Strong learning competency and ability to teach others
20. Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities
21. Assist other IT team members in understanding policies, operating procedures, and responsibilities
22. Mentor and train new IT team members to assist them in orientation to policies, procedures, and responsibilities
23. Provide ongoing mentorship and support for questions, problems, and ideas
24. Serve as an escalation point for system engineers to escalate problems and inquiries requiring further evaluation beyond the associated skill level
25. Establish and maintain professional working relationships between IT and its customers and constituents
26. Ability to uncover business challenges and articulate, author documentation and develop custom solutions to solve those challenges
27. Represent IT in project and/or business meeting and engagements.
28. Lead conference calls or visits with vendors/third parties.
29. Ability to collaborate with and motivate multiple groups toward accomplishing a task
30. Takes leading role or assists in software changes to the computing systems environment
31. Plans and performs software installations and/or configurations
32. Participates or coordinates testing activities
33. leads implementation activities and post-production support and communications
34. Prepares documentation and training materials for applicable constituents including customers using the system, IT staff supporting the systems, vendors/third parties, and/or business managers
35. Documents changes for all affected parties
