Role Summary
Description:
Looking for a seasoned network engineer that has core project management skills and a strong
networking and virtualization background. Candidate will join the Digital Corporate Services and
Solutions (DCSS) team. Team is focused on standardization, automation and continuous improvement
across deployments of projects that span the following programs within Kaiser Permanente''s 2017 IT
Strategy:
1. Upgrade Internet (Data Center DMZ) to 10 GB
2. Upgrade Intranet to 10 GB
3. Access Layer LAN Switch Upgrades
Scope of Work
Define, design and manages network replacement projects that have varying level of complexity in
nature from conception through completion to include scope, time, and cost. May also be assigned to
manage approved projects that are less complex in nature from conception through completion with the
support and direction of a functional manager and/or lead. Provides leadership to project team and
junior members of project management and project coordinators.
Responsible for overall coordination, status reporting and stability of project oriented work efforts.
Establishes and implements project management processes and methodologies for the IT community to
ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet
customer expectations. Responsible for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing
and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and
escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately. Responsible for tracking key project
milestones and adjusting project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customers. Coordinates
communication with other teams and customers as needed in relation to impacts of the scope, budget,
risk and resources of the work effort being managed.
Must possess knowledge and experience in the use of project management methodologies and tools,
resource management practices and change management techniques.
Required Skills and Experience
Project Management
? Ability to manage complex projects (ie. number of resources, functional areas, time
requirements, and the organizational experience of the subject)
? Relevant work experience as typically acquired in 7 to 10 years.
? Polished with good communication (written & verbal) and leadership skills
? Demonstrated experience using Project Management software tools
? Communicates complex concepts and ideas effectively to all levels within the organization
? Ability to develop, create and deliver presentations to all levels within the organization
? High level analytical and problem solving skills
? Ability to complete projects in a timely manner with little supervision or direction
? Ability to influence others without direct lines of authority
? Forward thinking to identify potential issues and/or risks to resolve or minimize in advance
? Ability to handle multiple projects at one time; Exceptional organizational skills with ability to
handle multiple priorities and adapt to change.
? Collaborative working style and ability to develop/sustain productive work relationships with
key stakeholders across all areas and levels of the organization as well as external consultants.
Demonstrated ability to continuously learn and improve understanding of project methodology
and tools

? Experience in cloud, virtualization, networking, security and storage
? Experience in projects with UNIX and WINDOWS server builds (physical / virtual), DB build and
setup, Storage and backup setup (NAS, SAN), Network devices setup and configuration, Firewall
setup and implementation
? Very polished with good communication, leadership, and people skills
Desired Skills and Experience
? Big 5 consulting experience a plus
? Strong expertise in Cisco network planning, design, implementation, and management
? Design, implement, and configure Cisco Nexus 9000 series switches
? Design and implement firewall policies of Palo Alto Networks PA-5000 series and Cisco ASA 5500
series firewall conversion
? Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification a plus
? Project Management Professional Certification - PMP a plus
