Responsibilities may include:
Provide support for version/release upgrades for WebSphere MQ software, testing and applying normal WebSphere MQ software maintenance.
Support standard and bi-annual maintenance of MQ running on z/OS, Oracle Sun servers, and Red Hat Linux servers.
Conduct analysis to support the development of comprehensive test plans ensuring validation of functional requirements for the new queues or alterations to existing queues.
Configure, test, migrate and implement MQ security on the z/OS, UNIX, iSeries and Windows platforms.
Test, migrate and implement the MQ backup and restoration processes across the MQ infrastructure on z/OS, UNIX, iSeries and Windows platforms.
Develop and maintain documentation on MQ infrastructure.
Troubleshoot MQ systems and application problems, and facilitate the necessary actions required to correct the problem.
Communicate the details of the issue, expected resolution, and root cause analysis.
Provide 24x7 pager support to resolve MQ related problems when they occur.
Provide technical support during disaster recovery exercises.
Provide ongoing support for the process identification, documentation, formalization, and improvement of the MQ infrastructure support processes.
