Technical Writer
Location: Burlington, MA
Duration: Perm
We are looking for a hard-working and energetic junior technical writer to support the User Assistance team. We are part of an organization that has high ambitions, extraordinary talent, and diverse personalities. The User Assistance Team is an integral part of the UX/UA department that prides itself on good relationships, a sense of fun, and the ability to work together as a team to achieve common goals for our users. We want to hire a writer who is a high-achiever, positive-thinker, and who deeply believes in the industry and profession of technical communication.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Authoring various types of new content in DITA
Updating and correcting online content
Checking in content to content repository and performing peer reviews
Strategic planning of future publications
Streamlining workflow processes
Updating and maintaining styleguides
Personality and Aptitude
We are looking for someone who can work independently with great initiative, but who understands the importance of teamwork in high-pressure situations. This person must be ready and able to hit the ground running, writing the content as s/he goes, learning by watching, listening, and asking questions. We want an educated person who has demonstrated a strong understanding of all the concepts and philosophies of technical communication and is willing to continue learning new methods and processes. S/he must be open to taking on any tasks that work toward getting the job done while maintaining a positive and self-reliant outlook.
Necessary Education
Ideally, we are looking for someone with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technical Communication, but we will look at individuals who only have basic certification in Technical Communication if they have compensatory experience.
Necessary Experience
We are looking for someone who can:
Provide varied examples of strong technical writing
Demonstrate, through references and writing samples, a solid understanding of writing for non-native English readers
