Title: UNIX Systems Administrator
Location: Woonsocket, RI 02895
Tenure: 6+ Months (Contract)

Team: Database Administration/UNIX & Windows

Important Skills
Technical –
In depth knowledge of AIX & Solaris OS internals in multi LPAR, single node, and clustered environments
The ability to provision, tailor, and apply system patches
In depth knowledge of interaction of OS parameters with Oracle Data Base
Knowledge of Third Party Vendor applications such as Web and JAVA applications
Interview Process: 1st round video WebEx and then a 2nd round video WebEx – 1st round will be with William’s Tech Leads, 2nd Round with both William and his Tech Leads

5 to 8 years of experience in related or same field of work
Experience building, tuning, and maintaining servers in an enterprise environment that supports multiple databases.

The ability to interact effectively with other technical groups – DBA’s & Technical Architects

Plus:
Knowledge of Third Party Vendor applications such as Web and JAVA applications

Education:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology/Computer Science.

Day to Day:
The UNIX System Administrator will have an in depth knowledge of AIX and Solaris OS internals in multi LPAR, single node and clustered environments. The ability to respond, diagnose and remediate issues affecting availability in a dynamic environment are key components of the position. The ability to provision, tailor, tune and apply system patches are standard skills. The knowledge of interaction of OS parameters with Oracle Data Base configurations is also of importance. Additional knowledge of Third Party Vendor applications such as Web and JAVA applications is helpful.

1. Manage and maintain all aspects of server OS configurations in relation to user provisioning security, performance and capacity reporting. This to be performed in development, user acceptance and production environments.
2. Coordinate all aspects of server installs in a project oriented environment.
3. Respond, identify and remediate any issues affecting server availability or performance that impact end users.
4. Support daily user request for provisioning and assistance in multiple environments.
5. Perform performance testing and Disaster Recovery testing as needed.
