Tivoli Monitoring Engineer
1 year + extensions
Location: HQ - 200 S. 108th Ave. Omaha, NE
3 – 5 years of experience – Not an Architect level role – this is a Junior Tivoli role
This person will be interacting with users and processing tickets as they come in (tickets will involve adding, removing, and updating monitoring systems to user applications They will also be monitoring and evaluating platforms and making suggestions on how to improve the monitoring process
The Tivoli Monitoring Engineer will be knowledgeable in a variety of enterprise management technologies, primarily with the current versions of IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) and Netcool products, including OMNIbus, Impact, and ITNM/IP. Administer and provide software support for Monitoring tools. Perform basic customization and implementations with any of the tool suites. Work with various system and application owners to design and implement monitoring and alert solutions. Provide assistance to Command Center and other clients with the use of the tools. Alternate with other team members in off-hours on-call rotations, support Tivoli tools
Responsibilities:
Work on day-to-day service requests related to monitoring addition, suppression and removal.
Resolve issues related to Tivoli Monitoring agents connectivity.
Add new monitoring agents and decommission agents as part of the server provisioning process.
Analyze and transform operational and/or functional needs into solutions while remaining compliant with regulations, policies and procedures document description of system parameters and integrate those parameters to optimize the overall solution''s effectiveness and efficiency at task.
Experience and Requirements:
4+ years of experience supporting, administrating and operating within a fast-paced, multi-site, heterogeneous environment.
4+ years of experience in managing and maintaining IBM Tivoli infrastructure
4+ years of experience in managing , maintaining and updating monitoring profiles across the enterprise
4+ years of experience in managing , maintaining and administrating Sitescope across the enterprise
Solid understanding of SNMP, in both the Linux and Windows environments
Solid working knowledge of both Windows and Linux Operating Systems, file and directory structures, commands, command-line interfaces and utilities.
Solid Shell , Python and/or Perl scripting.
Innovative analytical thinker, applies technical knowledge/creativity to deliver best possible results, not merely satisfactory results.
Understanding of computer resource utilization and measurement.
Strong troubleshooting skills
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, to facilitate interactions with business clients and members of other T2 teams.
This position has a rotating on call shift - the current rotation is 1 week every 5 weeks. The hours for on-call are typically 2nd shift, they don''t get a lot of 3am emergencies - most of the issues come up after normal business hours until 10pm
