Test Engineer
Location: Rockville, MD
Duration: 6 months to perm
Additional- we are looking for Test Engineers who have strong scripting skills with Python and SQL, we use Python to automate test scripts and not Selenium or similar products
Job Description:
The Test Engineer should have a passion for testing high-performance "Big Data" systems. In the role, the candidate would be working with an application stack that tests open-source and commercial software including Apache Kafka, Hadoop, Hive, using Python and SQL and all currently implemented in AWS. Candidates will at least have experience working in AWS and be familiar with the technologies we are using.
Responsibilities:
Hands-on work with Java, Python, SQL, APIs and a variety of data systems developing automated test frameworks and test highly scalable data pipeline that collects and process large data sets.
Validate data systems and functionality or each release using automation as a key strategy and establishing
performance benchmarks
Design creative approaches to solving technical challenges with data validation and integration scenarios
Be the champion for quality production releases and point person for investigating any related issues
Contribute to and promote good software testing practices across the team
Qualifications:
Extensive Java experience and solid Linux/Unix skills
Experience in Testing - Apache Kafka, Hadoop, Hive, MySQL preferred
Excellent skills in Python and SQL
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to mentor other test engineers
Strong sense of ownership and track record of quality work
Can-do attitude and get things done on time and on budget
Exercise good judgment about which tools to use and when to use them
Good written and oral communication skills
Contribute to and promote good software engineering practices across the team.
Education:
Bachelors of Science or Bachelor of Arts or equivalent experience
Clearance:
Ability to obtain a Public Trust
