Job Description :
This position is focused on site telecommunication WAN technologies and is not a traditional network engineer. We are not looking for Cisco routing and switching engineers. We are seeking someone with a network distribution and an electrical engineering background.

Works as a team member to provide Level 2 or 3 support, makes recommendations and supports projects as part of a team, and may participate in the development and/or research of advanced technologies.

Participates in ongoing transport (network) support, analysis of network use/design, and assists in future planning of the network infrastructure. Works under general supervision and direction following documented processes and procedures. Assignments are received in the form of results expected; within operating policies and procedures. Decisions may involve changes to normal work processes.

The Network Engineer is responsible for a variety of network projects related to network WAN backhaul between sites, including the use of technology, such as, Microwave, Fiber, SONET, DWDM, TropOS and Cellular. Sites may include power plants, substations and commercial locations. The Engineer designs the telecommunications between the sites and the interface to corporate routing assets.

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable information technology discipline, Associate Degree in information technology and 5+ years’ experience in given discipline or technology.
