JOB Description:
Title: Tax Analyst
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 6 Months contract (Possible Extension)
1-3 years of experience in tax and accounting with a passion for technology, and programming knowledge.
Responsibilities:
Maintains existing tax programs and related products ensuring offering is in compliance with taxing agencies regulations and guidelines within established deadlines oResearch, analyze and interpret federal and state tax legislation, code, regulations, forms and instructions
oApplies standard practices and procedures to implement basic tax product changes via code and internal software
oAble to learn and perform unit testing and quality assurance checks to insure that no unintended changes are introduced during the annual update cycle
Proactively seeks and obtains guidance from more experienced team members and uses these opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge
Work in a team environment using Agile/Scrum methodologies
Complete an expected level of work within the sprint
Identifies, and proposes process improvements in their team or work area
Qualifications:
Basic understanding or ability to learn federal and provincial taxation
Excellent problem solving skills
Basic level understanding of software best practices and coding techniques
Possess or able to quickly learn and apply tax content development tools (both print and electronic filing)
Possess or able to quickly learn testing processes to validate work, whether automated or manual
Effective interpersonal skills, which translates into the ability to partner for commitment and action, communication, as well as listening
Cultural and organizational fit; emotional intelligence, business acumen, professional maturity, motivation for taking on this role
BS/BA in Business Accounting, or Computer Science or equivalent related experience
Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or EA certification
Previous exposure and development coding software. Coding tax software specifically is a significant plus
Knowledge or experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment a plus
Deep understanding of tax software products
