Job Description:
HHSC IT is currently in the planning stage of an HHS Performance Portal pilot initiative with a goal to accomplish the following:
Implementation and configuration of the infrastructure for the performance portal pilot
Design, development, and implementation (DD&I) of the performance portal using an agile methodology for all standard SDLC phases that includes, but is not limited to:
o Validation of performance metric requirements
o Creation of EPICS/User Stories
o Creation and validation of dashboard and report mock-ups
o Automation of data acquisition from a variety of data sources
o Dashboard and report development
o Testing – integration, load and stress, and user
o Deployment / publication internally and externally
o Operations support and enhancement of the Performance Portal pilot

This development effort will utilize agile methodology. As a member of the agile development team, the worker responsibilities may include:
Data acquisition from a variety of data sources for use by Tableau dashboards and reports.
Connecting Tableau data visualization objects to external data sources, including the testing and validation of the Tableau object’s ability to connect.
Collaborating with other members of the Professional Licensing Special Project Team on the design and implementation of an optimal data design to support a Tableau performance management reporting system.
Testing, validation, and deployment of webpages and Tableau objects into a production environment.
Work closely with the Technical Architect on implementation designs and data acquisition strategies.
Working closely with other members of the team to address technical problems
Assisting with the implementation and configuration of developmental tools
Producing and maintaining technical specifications, diagrams, or other documentation as needed to support the DD&I efforts Participation in requirements and design sessions
Interpreting new and changing business requirements to determine the impact and proposing enhancements and changes to meet these new requirements
All other duties as assigned.

WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Years Skills/Experience
8 ETL experiencing in acquiring data from multiple data sources/technologies for use by a Tableau data visualization object. Possible data sources should include Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Pdf files.
8 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience as a system analyst for a data analytics, performance management system, or data warehousing project.
5 Technical writing and diagraming skills, including proficiency with modeling and mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Erwin), the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and MS Project.
4 Integration of data from various back-end services and databases
4 Experience on an agile sprint team
3 Experience developing dashboards and reports using Tableau, including connecting to external data sources.
Yes Proven ability to write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
Yes Understanding of security principles and how they apply to healthcare data
Strong Experience with state-of-the-art software components for a performance metrics data visualization or business intelligence environment
Strong Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong Effectively manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize conflicting assignments, and switch quickly between assignments, as required.
Yes Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business or equivalent experience.
