Position: Systems Engineer
Location: Greenwood Village, CO
Duration: 12 months
Description:
The candidate will work with IPControl System Engineering Team for companywide IPv4/IPv6 blocks synchronization with Charter production networks. The candidate will also provide Tier 4 IPv4/IPv6 addressing support for IPv4/IPv6 unicast/multicast address request and issue escalation from various LoB (Line of Business), Data/Voice/Video, enterprise, and Charter Business. The candidate will develop scripts/programs to discover IP blocks (both static and dynamic) and other information in known and migrating networks. The candidate will also be responsible for developing working connector to interconnect IPControl API and different API in Charter’s other operation systems.
Essential Functions Of The Position:
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the experience of stake holders who need IP addresses to run business and/or grow customer base.
- Working with IPControl System Engineering team to define container hierarchy, block types, populate IP blocks in logical and/or device containers via IPC configuration, policy setting, and/or router subnet discovery on IP blocks.
- Work with various technical teams (CBO, DOCSIS, NDC/RDC, and etc responsible for network migration, capacity augmentation, network integration, and IP Operations team members to make sure container hierarchy and IP blocks in IPControl are in sync with changing and very dynamic production networks.
- Streamlining IP management fuctions to enable better IP utilization.
- Develop scripts and software tools for IPv4 and IPv6 data anaysis
- Provides IP request and/or reclaim tier support across different lines of business (DOCSIS, Commercial Business, Video, Voice, WiFi, Data Center, and etc
- Help define best practices of manage IPv4 and IPv6 address allocation and consumption
- Lead the development and documentation of technical standards
- Works on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding IPControl planning, configuration and optimization
- Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
- Lead IPControl system integration with Charter OSS/BSS such as CNR, Granite, DRUM, HomeWorld, T3 and Cisco Multicast Manager. Work with Charter provisioning team for integration with DNS and DHCP. The task includes collecting requirements and authoring detailed specification, and manage the implementation.
- Works on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding IPControl planning, configuration and optimization
- Provides tier support across different verticals in NetOPs organizations
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Skills / Abilities And Knowledge:
- Ability to effctively communicate with colleagues, customers, vendors, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
- Proficient in LINUX, Perl or Python, MySQL Database
- Familiar with TCP/IPv4 and IPv6 protocols
- Experienced in OSS (Operation Support System) and/or BSS (Business Support System)
- Knowledge of telecommunication and/or cable operator’s products and services
Education:
- Bachelor or Master/Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
- Professional level Network Certification or equivalent work experience
- Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (CCIE, CCNP, JNCIP-SP, JNCIE-SP, SCTE)
Related Work Experience:
- 5+ years of system and network experience
