We are seeking an accomplished Systems Administrator.

Description:

Responsible for assisting in maintenance, installation, troubleshooting of IT infrastructure including software/hardware systems as well as offering second level, tier 2, support for internal users.
At the direction of the IT Director, may also be required to work on other IT related projects including communicating with external vendors, researching IT projects/initiatives/technology, developing proof-of-concepts, providing cost analysis for projects, developing policies, etc.
Adhering to good computer security best practices and providing excellent customer service are critical for this position.
Secondarily, may perform basic reporting analytic functions by developing reports and querying data from database systems. Most importantly, must demonstrate and utilize independent troubleshooting skills and poses an analytical mindset.

Deploy new physical and virtual servers. Support virtualization technologies. Identify and mitigate hardware/software points of failure to maintain computer systems in highly available state.
Deploy hardware/software systems to maintain highest level of availability while maintaining good cost controls.
Evaluate opportunities for efficiencies, consolidation, cost savings, etc., that don’t compromise security, ease of manageability.
Manage/maintain Microsoft Active directory environment including user and computer object management, user and group security management, Group Policy creation/troubleshooting/management, etc.
Troubleshoot and resolve tier 2 support items in a thorough and quick manner. Maintain firewalls, routers, and switches, including hardware and software configurations.
Assist in management and maintenance of phone systems including VOIP and analog lines. Support end user computers (i.e. hardware, software, network connectivity, etc.
Assist in management, deployment, verification, and auditing of data backups. Administer Linux systems mostly used for web site hosting. Administer Office 365 environment.
Provide basic level of support with creating, editing Microsoft SQL Server reports and SQL queries.
Provide reports on critical data/system monitoring. Have data backups been confirmed recently to be working correctly? Are former user accounts being disabled immediately upon termination?
Ability to understand, use and create scripts commonly used by System Administrators to automate common processes like backups and anything else that needs to run automatically on a regular basis. Should be familiar with Windows batch file programming, Power Shell and have basic familiarity with Linux shell scripts.
Always provide excellent customer servers to internal and external users. Respond to all inquiries in timely manner. Document work and activity when/where appropriate. Keep end users updated and informed.
Look for opportunities to teach, train, educate end users in a positive and encouraging way.
Not only report down to end users, but up to IT Director and horizontal to IT peers when it is reasonable and necessary to do so. Maintain balanced approach on keeping everyone informed while not over communicating.
Always look for ways to create layers of security. Don’t rely upon just one technology to create security, but look for ways to add multiple technologies.
Find a balance between providing a high degree of security, ease of use for end users, ease of implementation/management for IT, and cost effectiveness.
Stay up to date on latest malware and IT security trends designed to protect against malware variants.
Help implement/maintain IT security best practices. Be an example by always following these best practices and training/encouraging end users to follow best practices.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years IT infrastructure support/maintenance experience.
Strong ability to function independently, troubleshoot problems, and think analytically.
Commitment to customer service excellence.
Understanding of and commitment to strong computer security best practices.
Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
Must function well in team environment and be committed to supporting the IT team. Not only peers in IT department, but all users in all departments.
Bachelor’s degree in related field desired, but equivalent, demonstrated experience can be considered.
