Our direct client is looking for a Systems Administrator for a Long Term Contract in Richmond, VA.

Job Description
- This position is responsible for enterprise level systems administration including: maintenance, backups, patch management, support, troubleshooting, installation and break/fix.
- Areas of responsibility include DEV, QA, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production server environments.
- Work involves the advanced use of software and/or hardware tools to provide on-going services, maintenance, and monitoring.
- Work includes optimizing systems performance, troubleshooting systems problems, and analyzing usage and systems load issues of a highly technical nature.
- Work requires excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a high technical skill level.
- Position requires frequent interaction with employees, customers, technicians, analysts, and specialists to troubleshoot problems related to the use of single and/or multiple information systems.
- Work may include creation, installation, and modification of software and hardware, testing, and documentation on a variety of platforms.
- Experience working in multi-tiered server environments. Support in the areas of server and applications architecture, systems integration, and Internet/Intranet deployment for various .NET applications, as well as work in other aspects to support many other VDOT applications.
- Daily tasks include technical solution delivery, application deployment, maintenance, operations and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete assigned project responsibilities under limited supervision. Extensive systems administration experience on the Windows Server platform, with web/app server deployments and operations including IP, HTTP, HTTPS, STP, load balancing, clustering, firewall rules, failover, monitoring, diagnostics, and performance tuning, etc. PowerShell scripting experience, highly desired. Experience with Citrix and Business Intelligence software, a plus.
- Creates and executes work plans/scripts for review by senior systems engineer for application deployment.
- Collaborates with SE team, DBAs, Architect team, developers and Project Managers on various projects.
- Prepares detailed system deployment documentation and operations manuals.
- Assesses needs and performs upgrades of application software as required.
- Monitors security alerts and installs software patches promptly along with monitoring systems for performance.
- College Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience in applications and server architecture desired.

- Windows Server 2008 - 2018 Server Administration - Required - 3 Years
- Trough understanding of LAN/WAN design, configuration and administration - Required - 3 Years
- Active Directory / Group Policy / DNS, Advanced TCP/IP Knowledge - Required - 3 Years
- Effective communication skills and ability to interaction well with employees, vendors and customers - Required - 5 Year
