JOB DESCRIPTION:
This technical position will work directly with the State of Maine Linux/Unix manager, primarily focused on OS and firmware patch planning, coordination, documentation and application. The state desires intermediate/advanced level knowledge to work directly with the Linux/Unix team on patching and general system administration activities.
50%: Oracle Exalogic vServer OS (Oracle Linux 6) patching and planning.
35%: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 6 & 5 OS and firmware patching and planning.
10%: Solaris 10 global zone, non-global zone and firmware patching and planning.
5%: General system administration tasks as needed.

REQUIRED:
The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of the Linux and Unix products listed above from installation, configuration, to securing, to recoverability to disaster recovery.
Extensive experience administering servers running the Red Hat (or a Red Hat based) operating system.
Extensive experience with OS patching tools and methodologies.
Experience administering servers running the Oracle Solaris operating system.
Experience with vulnerability assessments and security vulnerability remediation.
Experience with effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
Experience with Oracle Solaris zones.
Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server (or any equivalent enterprise patch automation tools
Experience with Chef (or any equivalent configuration management tools
Experience with Shell Scripting and Python or Ruby.
