Job Description
The Sr. Windows Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the administration of Windows server environment running on VMware Virtual Platform.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the operations, on-going and new IT Initiatives and upgrades, evaluation for new software, and support for all production, staging, development, and disaster recovery environments.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the appropriate configuration baseline of operating systems, software applications, and security compliance, working with monitoring tools, active directory, assess and interpret requirements of systems and applications in relation to hardware, software and operational needs, implement efficiencies through automations (leverage PowerShell, Power CLI, and batch jobs to automate manual and repetitive processes), and investigate new technology and provide recommendations on system improvements and life cycle planning.
Note: Current project involves migrating organization from Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2016.
Requirements
At least 8 years’ experience supporting MS Windows Server network infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Object.
Requires strong VMWare experience.
Requires experience leading a Windows Server migration (Windows Server 2008/2012 to Windows Server 2016 preferred
Experience with managing and maintaining Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 operating system environment.
Requires prior enterprise-level experience.
At least 5 years’ experience working with PowerShell scripting.
System monitoring tools - Solarwinds or others.
At least 4 years’ experience providing SCCM/SCOM Administration or similar enterprise network monitoring/management tool.
At least 2 years’ experience with building, configuring and managing VMWare ESXi/vSphere environment for enterprise environments.
Must have Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE
Experience with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) operation, maintenance, implementation and design.
Knowledge of Enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies.
Experience with automated Deployments of OS images with VMware templates.
Experience managing and leading IT Infrastructure related projects.
Understanding of security policies, scans, and vulnerability remediation.
Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills.
Available for On-Call rotation.
