*In depth familiarity of Microsoft Server OSes, VMWare ESXi, Red Hat and SuSE Linux operating systems *Experience with server storage technology, including PCIe, SAS and RAID is preferred. *Advanced knowledge of server OS clustering software and OS configuration is preferred *Must have a solid understanding of hardware and software interactions and be able to apply this understanding to resolve issues. *Detail-oriented with attention to product quality. *Strong verbal and written communication. *Ability to manage multiple programs and/or areas simultaneously. *Strong problem solving and analysis skills. *Ability in organizing and managing multiple projects, setting priorities and working independently under aggressive timelines. *Able to easily achieve mastery of new tools, languages and operating systems. *Ability to work under date-driven schedules. *Proficient in reading and understanding technical data sheets.

ACCOUNTABILITIES Constructs, troubleshoots and tests prototype assemblies Assists engineers in test phase of prototype systems and/or pre-released software Sets up, configures and tests hardware and software products Performs specified test cases and clearly documents results Conducts functional testing and analysis of newly developed products to ensure operation and reliability Assembles and disassembles test configurations Learns new technologies and procedures to remain current with industry standards and new products REPONSIBILITIES Lead the test case development and testing process to meet the development team meets Key contact for product development engineers in the diagnosis and replication of product failures Works closely with Test engineers and management team to provide input on the test case development process, debugging results and improving the testing cycle

Description Comments
Development Technician (RAID FW) The position is for a Development Technician to work in the Server Storage RAID engineering team. The RAID engineering team develops emerging server storage solutions spanning multiple implementations, including Hardware RAID solutions, Software RAID, and PCIe SSD products within Enterprise Solutions Group. The RAID organization is closely tied to other development organizations, including the server and storage enclosure platform teams, operating system teams, systems management and mechanical teams. The Development Technician is responsible for working on special assignments and prototype projects that are moderately complex in nature, where good judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. They will work from developed test plans and also written or verbal instructions. In addition, they will independently construct, troubleshoot, and test prototype assemblies as well as assist engineers in test phase of prototype systems. Responsibilities will be to test early development level solution components and triage issues found during test. Principal Accountabilities *Perform design verification and characterization on Dell’s server storage products. *Troubleshoot and repair systems to the component level. *Set up, configure, and test prototype systems and software. *Perform specified test plans. *Perform functional tests and analyze newly developed systems to ensure operation and reliability. *Assemble and disassemble prototype systems as necessary. *Assist other technicians in completing assigned tasks. *Able to work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.
