Job Description: The Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall architecture of the Local Area Networks (LANs) and Windows Server IT Infrastructure. This includes the design and implementation of administrative sites Local Area Networks, enterprise active directory forests/domains and virtual computing architecture. The engineer will be designing and rolling out the infrastructure for hosting the following applications: SESIS Expansion, SEMS, and DOE Web Site. Additionally, the engineer will help transition Active Directory, ADFS, and DNS services to a more reliable, and highly available environment, and help retire the old infrastructure hosting those services today.

Duties & Responsibilities include:
Responsible for infrastructure implementation, deployment and support of technologies related to server platforms including Microsoft OS, Linux and VMware.
Configures and implements project deployments. This includes development of images, testing, implementation and documentation.
Supports and maintains more than 2,000 servers and high-end storage technologies.
Supports and maintains over 10,000 Windows 7 workstations.
Supports the implementation of server technologies solutions to satisfy business and infrastructure needs
Monitors the availability and utilization of server infrastructure resources for optimization and
Maintains the integrity of servers and storage resources, including work with data recovery tools.
Performs preventative maintenance tasks server patching, updates and upgrades.
Ensures compliance with the organizations data centers and security standards are enabled
Monitors system performance along with tuning and capacity planning.
Supports and Manages EMC, HP Storage devices and SAN Switches.
Complies with organizations operating standards and change control processes.
Manages the design and process governing the enterprise Active Directory Domain Services.
Performs duties associated with Schema and Enterprise administrators.
Maintains the list of attribute mappings between AD and the Data Owners.
Manages the AD architecture standards, including naming convention and directory structure.
Monitors and resolves security situations at all levels of domain to ensure stable and secure domain.
Configures site links to efficiently handle AD replication traffic between or within sites.
Manages trust relationships between domains and forests.
Complete forest disaster recovery plan and practice.
Manage and maintain Active Directory Integrated DNS Zones.
Perform optimization, inter-operability, capacity planning, operational redundancy, contingency planning, integration, and operations of all components-hardware, and software in the AD architecture.
Work on server build/rebuild requests, event log monitoring and review, performance analysis, hardware performance monitoring and domain management.
Maintain daily backups and backup logs using EMC Networker and VEEAM


MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
BS in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent education experience is must
Must have any Microsoft certified System Engineer – MCSE
Minimum 8 years of design, build implementation and support experience with Microsoft server and application technologies including DNS, DHCP, WINS, SCOM, SMS/SCCM, VDI, Windows Server 2008/2012, VMware 6.0, Active Directory, ADFS
Minimum 8 years of experience in installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting server hardware and related data center equipment.
Good technical documentation, problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong aptitude and technical knowledge of LAN systems and related services (AD, DNS, ADFS
Expert Knowledge in AD, DNS, DHCP, SQL, File, Print, DFS backup solutions and DR Procedures with hands on experience.
Experience with configuration and management of Cisco SAN switches.
Advanced Hardware troubleshooting inquires in-depth knowledge of all hardware in standard builds, particularly RAID configuration, HBA, Zoning and troubleshooting.
Strong technical design, implementation, and troubleshooting knowledge of Active Directory and components.
Proficient in Internet protocols and standards such as LDAP, TCP/IP, FTP, DHCP, WINS, DNS and related management tools.
Expert Knowledge in monitoring solutions such as SCOM, patch management tools, such as SCCM, and Red Hat Satellite.
Expert knowledge in managing tools like Microsoft System Center 2012 and VMware vCenter Operations Manager (VCOPS)
Expert knowledge in physical server platforms including IBM, DELL, HP, Blade Servers, virtualized servers including VMWare and Hyper-V.
Expert knowledge in specifying network connectivity requirements, data center cabling, Cat-5 trunks, fibers bundles, electrical requirements, KVMs, Racks, patch panels, and peripherals.
Ability to quickly and efficiently create parts and equipment lists for Server components, electrical, network cabling, Racking components through research of option and providing alternatives,
Researching, compiling, evaluating and providing servers and storages specification to fulfill solution requirements.
Ability to install and configure SAN switches, VLS, SAN Devices HP EVA & EMC)
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and conditions.
Excellent communication and documentation skills utilizing MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel and MS Visio.
Ability to perform after hours shift work and weekends. Must be available 24/7 support.
Analytical skills in identifying problems, determining causes, suggesting and implementing solutions.
Attention to detail – follows detailed procedures and existing standards.
Proven working knowledge of the complexity and security of Active Directory Multiple Forests design.
