Job Title: Sr. Software Engineer

Job Location: Austin, TX

Duration: 12 months

Role & Responsibilities:

As a member of the IoT software integrations team, you will:

· Engage directly with lighthouse customers

· Drive Cisco Kinetic adoption by building customer confidence with working code

· Drive feature and capability requirements into Cisco Kinetic

· Develop green/brown field PoCs/Papers to highlight value of Cisco Kinetic at industry conferences

· Help to close deals and gap fill as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

Highly proficient in one or more of Python, Java, or C++. You are able to implement new patterns and refactor code without specifications in one or more of these languages.

4-8 years of experience developing infrastructure/backend software

Solid understanding of networking concepts and conceptual understanding of protocols.

Knowledge and experience with object-oriented design patterns.

Knowledge of distributed computing

Desired Skills:

Experienced with implementing back-end services in large / “web scale” distributed systems.

Knowledge and experience with micro-services design and implementation.

Knowledge and experience with “Platform as a Service” environments or other application development platforms.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong team player, with ability to actively contribute in teams with different skill and experience levels.

Knowledge about buffering, stream processing, complex event processing, and storage solutions (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, Cassandra, Mongo, etc)

Knowledge in contemporary software development lifecycle tools and methodologies (e.g. TDD, CI/CD, ZDT deployment practices)

Understanding on how to develop within a continuous integration environment leveraging tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, Bamboo

Experience leveraging contemporary deployment technologies like Docker, Puppet, etc.
