Our direct client is looking for an Sr Oracle Database Administrator for a Long Term Contract in Harrisburg, PA.
Project Description:
- Implement and support special database technologies including Advanced Data Guard, Oracle Database Upgrades, Supporting FileNet and other applications, support infrastructure for Sybase IQ and Mainframe DB2/zOS.
Roles Description:
- Client is looking for qualified Oracle Database Specialist with experience in performing upgrades in multi-tiered, high-availability environments.
- The successful candidate will have an understanding of performing upgrades from 11g to 12c installed on AIX Power7 and Power5.
- Must have the ability to work with Automated Storage Management(ASM), Real Application Clusters(RAC), and Replication.
- In addition to traditional database administration and infrastructure support, special technologies designed to enhance the delivery center in its availability management and business intelligence initiatives.
- This resource will be required to provide oversight to one other database administrator supporting the decision support database.
- Client is consolidating IT resources creating a need for a specialist to oversee infrastructure maintenance for several platforms. Sybase IQ and DB2/zOS are utilized in another agency creating a complex management situation, however day-to-day database administration is not required. An additional resource to support these two platforms is expected to be acquired.
Responsibilities:
- Work independently performing routine database maintenance as well as specialized tasks as required by the UCMS development team.
- Knowledge of various Database Management System products including Oracle Database Replication.
- Knowledge of decision support systems, specifically Sybase IQ
- Knowledge of data warehouse concepts such as load windows, star schemas, pre-calculated data constructs(cubes
- Highly skilled at database design, installations, conversions and upgrades.
- Responsible for database backup and recovery procedures, access security and database integrity, physical data storage design and data storage management.
- Use of Toad, PuTTY and other administrative aids.
- Knowledgeable in data analysis and database management techniques.
- Execution of all responsibilities with little direct supervision of Team Lead.
- Administration and scripting experience in relative platform.
- Supervise performance tuning.
- Author shell scripts to perform back up, restore, and monitoring tasks.
- Identify and track issues, risks and action items.
- Performs performance tuning.
- Monitors database performance and space requirements.
- Schedules and monitors end of day data warehousing jobs.
- Assists in coordinating software releases.
- Communicates accurate and useful status updates.
- Manages and reports time spent on all work activities.
- Follow quality standards.
- Able to work in a team environment.

- Strong communication skills; both written and spoken.
