*Job Summary:*

Under direction of the Infrastructure Director, the Network Architect is
responsible for the design and implementation of the University''''s LAN, WAN,
WiFi and Internet connectivity. The Network Architect is to be the
technical expert in all areas associated with the data/voice network.
Responsibilities include review, design, recommendation, implementation and
documentation of network technologies and services.

*Job Responsibilities:*

- Review current state network architecture, assess risk & deficiencies
and recommend solutions.
- Assess current Firewall configuration, recommend & implement changes
to support multi-site DR.
- Evaluate WiFi network design and propose configuration changes to
increase coverage.
- Recommend changes to segment the network and secure resources.
- Collect application and business requirements to develop appropriate
data network solutions.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of Network Roadmap used to determine
the appropriate data network, related systems, and service contracts.
- Work with Project Managers to break projects into work streams and
tasks. Coordinate with platform/system owner involved in the overall
solution.
- Gather requirements and develop high level and low level designs, test
plans, and configurations.
- Ensure that projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule,
budget and quality standards.
- Develop testing and implementation plans that align with data network
project timelines and objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor and technical authority for the network team.
- Provide recommendations for new products and technology for supporting
all layers of the IT infrastructure architecture.
- Ensure that processes and procedures are designed in such a way as to
meet compliance and audit requirements.
- Lead capacity planning efforts.
- Recommend or provide the appropriate technical education and guidance
to staff members as needed.
- Work closely with the Infrastructure Director to align network design
with organizational goals.
- Design and integrate VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and other
telecommunications systems.
- Periodically test and evaluate network performance, and adjust and
redesign network where applicable.
- Lead in the identification and design of network monitoring and
automation tools.
