Job Description:

Sr. Material Manager (Contract And Full time)
Salt Lake City , Utah


Sr Material Manager will be responsible for leading strategic programs for cost reduction, lead integrated product teams and stakeholders to build and execute procurement project plans for productivity and continuous improvement projects.
Develop sourcing strategies & long term agreeements.
Support Production & Supply Chain teams goals by leading and executing Supplier rationalization, quality and delivery improvement projects.
Must have worked in Aerospace & Defense industry with domain knowledge of Aerostructures

Responsibilities
· Leading Integrated Product Teams in the accomplishment of large programs/projects
· Leads Make/Buy process
· Monitor active Strategic Programs, update status, eliminate roadblocks, and escalate issues as appropriate.
· Works with existing supply base to understand conditions and to maximize cost saving
· Perform cost analysis & lead total cost of ownership reduction projects
· Leads negotiation for all commercial aspects of strategic programs
· Leads supplier reviews, meetings, conflict resolution, and commercial resolutions
· Builds relationships with suppliers through onsite visits as required
· Develop Long Term Agreements and ‘scope of work’ as well as contract language for purchase orders
· Leads team of material, component, hardware and tooling buyers to ensure achievement of Strategic Programs cost and schedule requirements.
· Leads Integrated Product Team to provide necessary technical, manufacturing, and business support in identifying low cost suppliers, and utilizing the IPTs, bringing the low cost suppliers up to technical and qualification standards and production rate requirements of our programs.
· Defines and communicates program sourcing and purchasing strategies and influences team to ensure execution.
· Understands and facilitates the establishment of cost and lead time standards and metrics to be used for through Earned Value Management tools.
· Supports internal and customer Program Reviews, leadership meetings and technical exchange meetings as required.
· Coordinates closely with material planning and production control groups to ensure stock-outs and over-stock conditions do not occur, and works with suppliers when needed to improve lead times or minimum purchase quantities to avoid these conditions.
· Leads efforts as applicable to mitigate risk and capture opportunities.
· Identifies alternate and new suppliers and works with ASD’s material quality organization to qualify new suppliers for addition to the ASL (Approved Supplier List) and ensure qualification to applicable special processor requirements.
· Works directly with suppliers to understand, manage and reduce program and production risks associated with procured items. Communicates changes to and new program risks associated with procured items.
· Leads team of IPT Engineering, Supply Chain and Supplier QA to find and implement creative and effective ways to improve delivery lead times, recurring cost and quality of procured items.
· Coordinates closely with Supplier Quality, IPT Engineering and suppliers to identify, implement and validate corrective actions when necessary to Ensure compliance with internal, customer, and government requirements with respect to purchasing standards and processes including but not limited to FAR, DFAR, ITAR, Offset, Public Law, Warrantee, etc.

Job Requirements
· BA/BS/ME degree in procurement, business, or engineering with a 12+ years of procurement experience in Composite Tooling procurement (Aerospace & Defense Industry preferred)
· 8 to 12 years of overall procurement/supply chain/project management experience
· A minimum of 8 years of experience working in a diversified industrial company in the areas of Aerospace Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Project Management & Quality,
· Working knowledge of Aerospace Composite Structures & Toolings and related manufacturing systems and processes
· Knowledge of aerospace structures and associated commodities
· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) & ERP (SAP/Oracle)
· Strong problem solving and analytical skills
· Strong financial acumen with relation to cost setting and price negotiating
· Project management skills, earned value management tools
· Six Sigma methodology
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Experience in International sourcing experience a plus.
· Experience in supplier development, materials management, and/or supplier quality a plus. Must be a strategic thinker and have demonstrated experience driving strategies
· Microsoft Project Expertise
· Experience handing multiple procurement projects with a team of buyers and cross functional teams
· SAP/Oracle/ERP experience is required
