Position: Sr Linux/Unix Administrator
Location: Detroit, MI - F2F
Duration: 7+ Months Contract

Description:
Document operational processes and procedures, operational KPIs, and operational activity worksheets.
Run vendor support coordination for Service and Support, escalations, failure troubleshooting/debugging, root cause analysis preparation, license management, Level 3 support and maintenance, security administration (account management and permissions), disaster recovery, and training.
Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various projects and operational needs.
Document system designs and architectures using tools such as Microsoft Visio.
Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Install and configure systems which support infrastructure and/or Engineering Department activities.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures and scripts.
Contribute to and maintain system standards.
Maintenance and Administration of Oracle Virtual Machine (OVM) hosts and Oracle Linux based virtual machines.
Creation and Administration of SAMBA shares.
Administration of SAN infrastructure and EMC VNX storage arrays across the Enterprise.
Install and maintain security patches on the operational systems, which includes but is not limited to, Oracle Enterprise Linux, HPUX Systems, SUSE Linux, Red Hat Linux.
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications.
Install new server hardware and software according to standard operating procedures.
Provision and support servers for the development and QA of applications created by other teams and divisions.
Maintain and understand systems, regulatory requirements, and security interdependencies of hosting systems.
Actively participate in hardware and software configuration and change management processes.
Provide statistics of systems usage, systems outages, end user requests, etc. at meetings, planning sessions, and other interactions as needed.
Participate in system disaster recovery tests, in accordance with company policy, to ensure data integrity and availability.
Keep abreast of current developments in server technology to assist management in assessing the future direction of server technology.
Contribute to and maintain security posture of the system in accordance with AAM policies.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for server and system administration tasks.
Monitor and maintain firmware levels on server and storage components across the enterprise.
Monitor systems and provide information and statistics and/or take action on system performance and capacity alerts for items such as CPU, RAM, storage, etc.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Troubleshoot issues with server hardware and software; provides problem determination, including interfacing with other IT teams and customers to determine root cause.
Provide support for escalated issues from support technicians.
Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
Create, change, and delete user accounts per request as necessary.
Open support cases with external Vendors when required.
Participate in a rotating on call schedule which supports the critical services IT provides to our internal and external customers.
Perform scheduled server maintenance activities, including server activities such as patching, replacing failed hardware, and expanding file systems (many activities occur after normal business hours
Plan and coordinate firmware upgrades on server and SAN components with vendors.
Update hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security.
Maintain server and SAN operational, configuration, or other procedures and documentation.
Perform ongoing server and SAN performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Coordinate activities of vendors responsible for maintenance of AAM systems.
All other duties as assigned.
