Job Title: Sr. .NET Developer

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Massey Cancer Center’s Informatics Core IT platform through new development efforts of health care related data mining, analytic and tracking software, custom business IT software solutions, as well as enhancements and maintenance of existing information technology systems. This includes business requirements gathering and analysis (through direct interaction with the business customers), as well as system design, coding, and testing, and other support as may be necessary as directed by his/her manager. The candidate should be comfortable and very experienced with performing all elements of the typical software development lifecycle, and be familiar with various software development methods and implementations (e.g. Agile, RAD, etc The position will require working with Business users to gather and understand their needs; developing technical design specifications to meet the business needs while fitting into the current systems and platform in use; performing coding and testing of the software with high quality deliverables; working collaboratively in system design with senior architects while also working independently in development of software; producing documentation of developed products; completing other IT related work requirements or tasks that are requested by his or her manager when necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the Cancer Center.

Minimum hiring standards:
Expertise with Microsoft Visual Studio.
Expertise with C# and .net programming.
Expertise in modern .Net web application and services development.
Experienced in MVC /Razor and latest Javascript frameworks.
Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server/TSQL.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to view problems from a business perspective and effectively translate them to IT requirements.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a university employee at VCU

Preferred hiring standards:
Experience with advanced SQL Server analytics and reporting tools (SSRS, SSAS), Power BI, and Tableau
Healthcare data experience (including billing, pathology, scheduling, etc
Experience with HL-7 message processing
Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLPand machine learning
Demonstrated experience in architecting systems involving large data and 3rd party APIs with custom systems.
Experienced in large data SQL database design and implementation and best practices for speed and efficiency in various use cases.
