Senior DevOps Engineer
Position Description:
Full range of IT integration services supporting a multi-platform computing environment, including: information systems modernization initiatives, software engineering, project management, infrastructure services, data warehousing, database administration, research, planning, security, federal enterprise architecture initiatives, and all levels of Internet, Intranet and Web portal initiatives and migrating legacy architecture to web-based platforms. Immediate need for a highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to provide Agile deployment expertise and hands on implementation of the Disability Case Processing System (DCPS) application using the latest open source and AWS technologies. The candidate must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust.
Specifically, the successful candidate will be a member of an Agile DevOps Team working with other Agile development teams, System Architects, Test Architects, Database Engineers, Implementation team, Global Validation team, IT Infrastructure & Operations Team and External System Owners to develop the DCPS application using open source technologies and products.
Skills Requirements:
· Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and methodologies on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
· Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation
· Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on AWS including Splunk and Nagios
· Implement systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on the AWS platform
· Design, manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes using shell and Ansible scripting
· Strong communication and collaborative skills in providing technical direction and hands-on software deployment
Desired Skills:
· Knowledge of Scrum and Kanban Agile development process and ceremonies including scrums, planning events, backlog grooming, retrospectives and demos.
· Complex scripting, debugging, data analysis, problem analysis and resolution of issues within open source applications.
· Operating System and Infrastructure experience with Linux, Windows 7, Unix, RedHat.
· Experience with VersionOne Application Lifecycle Management Tools
· Experience with Jenkins and Continuous Integration.
· Standards & Protocols knowledge including XML, XSLT, WSDL, JSON.
· Experience with source code versioning and Pull Requests with Git and Stash/BitBucket.
· Experience with environments utilizing Cloud Technologies such as AWS or Azure.
· Software contributions and pull requests for open source software.
· Member of open source software communities.
· Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate and to pay attention to detail.
· Strong customer interface skills.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively with customers and other team members.
