Job Overview: SoftClouds LLC is looking for a Sr. DevOps AWS Engineer/Lead and would need to have strong knowledge of large level Amazon Web Services and be able to mentor someone on this. HPE Servers, Storage and Blades System administration experience with Linux, Apache, MySQL and Tomcat. Experienced with virtualized platforms such as VMWare, KVM and Docker. Familiarity with monitoring tools – Splunk, Nagios, BigPanda Infrastructure management using Ansible or puppet.
Roles & Responsibilities
Own and lead initiatives to create design documents that translate into successful systems implementation which includes reference architecture in conjunction with Engineering architects, infrastructure architects, Security, and/or outside vendors.
Create business requirements to determine infrastructure design, potential issues, and related cost for each project/feature request.
Socialize requirement documents, and develop implementation strategies that preserve the integrity, availability, stability, and scalability of systems and designs, consistent with cost (Capital and Labor) constraints.
Demonstrate expertise and leadership in problem solving. Work with Engineers, Systems Administrators, Network Engineers, Architects, DB Administrators, and vendors to prevent or solve difficult performance problems.
Interact with internal and external technical leaders to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to availability, functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to architectural goals and principles.
Contribute to the selection, prototyping, and implementation of hardware, Operating Systems, applications and tools, and technical solutions to business problems
Acts as a technical liaison between product, service engineering and operations teams.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ year experience in managing large-scale, multi datacenter global service environments.
Very strong leadership and ability to command respect at all levels of the organization.
Ability to quickly learn existing complex systems infrastructure.
Facilitation and team-building skills at all levels. Ability to influence, train, mentor and leverage the skills of others, including engineering partners and technical operations team.
Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategic and tactical goals.
Ability to work independently and situations.
Configuring, deploying and operating in hybrid cloud environments such as AWS, OpenStack.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is required; Master's degree preferred.
