Sr. Database Administrator in Gurnee, IL (SQL DBA)
6+ months Contract to hire
MUST be local!!
They want this person to start next week!

Definitely someone that is current on SQL Server and an active DBA. It’s a single position so anyone who’s been masked under a team and had to do targeted things within SQL Server won’t work out. Need the equivalent of a “full stack” developer on the DBA side. The Datawarehouse awareness is also huge, we have a BI team and they get a bit needy with DBA work, so having an awareness and ideally a background there is great.
We are in need, very quickly, of an Sr. Database Administrator – 6 month contact only (this will not be contract to hire):

Experience with SSRS and SSIS are a must
SQL Server 2016 experience is a plus
Need hours flexibility due to the nature of the job that could include evenings, potential overnight or weekend maintenance but hours would be adjusted to not allow for too much overtime
Position Summary: The Senior SQL Server DBA position is responsible for providing database services as well as development support to our organization. We seek a competent and highly motivated individual to work in this production DBA role. Primary responsibilities include design, installation, monitoring, and performance tuning of Production, Development and QA database environments while ensuring high levels of database availability. The DBA is also responsible for implementing and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of our SQL databases and our custom software application. The Senior SQL Server DBA must be a collaborative individual seeking an environment where quality, camaraderie, and continuous improvement are part of the foundation of workplace.
Job Requirements:
Log shipping, transactional replication as well as high availability groups

SSIS/SSRS implementation and configuration

BI capabilities utilizing data warehouse with SSAS

Knowledge of Windows Server administration (incl. Active Directory) & an idea about proper disk configurations.

Experience with SQL Server in virtual environments.

Familiarity with backups, restores and recovery models.

Experience utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.

An interest in performance tuning along with a basic understanding of how to read execution plans.

Working with code repositories and continuous integration/deployments before.

Automation experience with the ability to bring additional knowledge around this topic (e.g. Powershell etc to our team.

The ability to discuss database related topics with both technical & business audiences.

Strong problem solving skills and a commitment to getting things done right.
Education and Experience:
A BS in Information Technology or a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
At least 5 years recent hands on experience in SQL Administration from SQL Server 2008 R2 onwards – we currently run SQL Server 2016.
