Sr. BI Business Analyst

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Sr. BI Business Analyst (BA) is a key member of the business intelligence team. The primary function of the Sr. BA is to review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs. In this position, the Sr. BA is responsible for defining the scope of various projects, communications with customers, liaison with the development teams, and project management from inception through completion. Candidates must be familiar with relational databases as well as reporting tool client-server concepts. The ability to plan and accomplish goals will rely on experience, judgment, and collaboration with technical staff. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a thorough understanding of client organizational structure and business processes and leverage that understanding in project related efforts.
Develop documents for BI/IT applications, report mock-ups, source to target mappings, systems specification and test plans, according to existing standards and methodologies.
Translate business needs, processes and procedures into workable systems, and articulate on specific software requirements by communicating with technology experts and business stakeholders.
Interact and develop working relationships with project stakeholders and senior level leadership
Mentor junior members on the team.
Work closely with architects and other technology staff (e.g. developers and quality assurance analysts) to deliver project results.
Work with QA team and client partners to facilitate unit and user acceptance testing efforts of delivered solutions.
Track, document and communicate project status/issues/obstacles quickly and clearly through appropriate organizational and project leadership channels.
Develop and manage client/customer relationships in a highly matrixed environment.
Identify, document and communicate opportunities for enhancement/improvement in both internal BI and client organizations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
The appropriate candidate for this position would possess strong persuasion skill and business acumen working independently and across teams. We are looking for driven self-starters who enjoy and are able to collaborate across all levels and teams within an organization. Effective written and oral communication is a must. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
Undergraduate degree in computer science or at least 4 years of work experience in relevant field. .
Demonstrated ability to analyze business needs and work with technical staff to formulate technical solutions consistent with organizational objectives
Demonstrated production process skills including developing requirements and functional specifications writing user stories, developing acceptance criteria, testing, user acceptance testing
Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to communicate well with business owners and technical staff for effective scope control and timely project completion
Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese is essential for success in this role.
Ability to elicit actionable concise, complete feedback from business partners in a very robust, changing, multilingual environment. Patience, persistence and professionalism is essential.
Understanding of business process modeling.
Solid foundation with data warehousing and reporting platforms
Knowledge and understanding of Cognos and/or Tableau environments a big plus.
Business knowledge and understanding of SharePoint.
