Job Description :
Key responsibilities:
System administration and security of AIX operating systems at version 6 and later on IBM Power 6 architecture and higher
System administration and security of HMCs and VIOS
Maintenance of AIX HACMP clusters
Planning and installation of new operating system releases to maintain software currency
Planning and application of cumulative PTF packages.
Planning and installation of upgrades/new software
Planning and installation of security patches
Change management of system & software configurations
Implementation and continuous compliance with IBM''s security standards.
Creation and maintenance of documentation
Working to establish and build up working relationships with customer groups and other support teams
Preparation, reviews and approvals of change control plans
Tuning of systems/software components to improve performance
Monitoring of system backups (mksysb and filesystem)
Working with other support teams to determine root causes of problems
Required Professional and Technical Expertise:
AIX, pSeries/SP, HACMP
HMC
VIOS
IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
Extensive experience in dealing with remote, global support teams
Availability for on-call work
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
Knowledge of Linux (especially Debian)
Experience with IBM middleware - e.g. WAS, DB2, IHS
Experience with IBM''s Tivoli range of systems management products
Experience with IBM ITIM/ISIM
Good general IT literacy
Preferred Education:
Bachelor''s Degree or 5+ years’ experience in a Senior AIX Administrator capacity
