Job Description:
The Network Operations Team is responsible for monitoring and supporting over 1,200 school buildings with over 100,000 networking devices in the DOE infrastructure. This infrastructure provides internet connectivity for all teachers, students and administrators citywide within the Department of Education. Providing, supporting and designing network connectivity for all DOE applications and services that travers the network infrastructure is critical for the business and day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities:
· Provide support Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Operations Manager, Publisher, and Unity for VoIP environments at various locations.
· Maintain and support a large enterprise network connecting a citywide environment of over 1200 locations.
· Provide support day to day operations that include routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, VoIP, and VPN.
· Work closely with the Network Operations Center to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
· Perform day-to-day network administration tasks including network equipment installation, configuration, upgrades, testing and troubleshooting.
· Provide WAN support for initiatives that revolve around our optical backbone.
· Maintain and support network technologies that sustain data center operations.
· Configure load balancing for internal and external facing DOE applications.
· Collaborate with various departments representing the network support team to design, test, and implement proposed solutions.
· Provide periodic network traffic and security status reporting.
· Prepare network diagrams, floor plans, and schematics using Visio where required.
· Respond to emergency calls in the evenings and on weekends regarding WAN / LAN outages.

- Experience in the usage and support of a collection of development platforms, technical architectures, or business applications and products that run on those platforms, beyond that of a Programmer
- The Authorized User may seek Specialists in the following areas (list is not exhaustive):

Security
Expert (84+ Months)
Candidate is able to provide leadership of large teams and/or extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field
Requested Qualifications:
1. 84+ months of experience performing day-to-day network administration tasks including all of the following: network equipment installation, configuration, upgrades, testing and troubleshooting
2. 84+ months of experience maintaining and supporting a large enterprise network connecting a citywide environment of over 1200 locations
3. 84+ months of experience with SONET architecture and operational support
4. 84+ months of experience with all of the following: Cisco Nexus family of switches, Cisco Catalyst Switches 6xxx, 5xxx, 4xxx, 29xx, 19xx, RSM; Cisco Routers 7500, 7200, 4000, 3600, 2600, 2500, 800; Cisco VPN 3000
5. 84+ months of experience with routing protocols such as, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP v2.
6. 84+ months of experience configuring and troubleshooting load balancers
7. 84+ months of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing routing and switching issues
8. Cisco Certified Network Professional Certification
9. 84+ months of experience with high level designs and documentation.
