JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Software Asset Manager will be responsible for maintaining comprehensive and accurate software-related information in the IT Asset Management (ITAM) central repository, determining license entitlements, maintaining compliance with key software license agreements, and utilizing software asset data to achieve specific financial optimization and risk mitigation business outcomes required from the ITAM program.

The Software Asset Manager will support the implementation of a global asset management solution, collaborate/liaise with staff in other areas to effect the adoption of software asset lifecycle processes, and ensure proper training is conducted. The Software Asset Manager will work on multiple, complex projects and contribute as the SAM subject matter expert, maintain competence in ITAM/SAM industry practices and technologies, and make recommendations and changes accordingly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (Detailed Description)
The Software Asset Manager will:
Work with best in class partners to implement a comprehensive ITAM program across Client globally.
Collect software license proof-of-entitlement data globally (software license agreements and purchase details), determine specific software entitlements, and document accordingly in the ServiceNow central repository.
Proactively maintain compliance position for key publishers and titles which includes performing periodic self-audits, engaging and managing outside expertise where required, and providing recommendations for resolution of non-compliant situations.
Maintain integrity of all software-related data in the ServiceNow central asset repository.
Support defense of Client in the event of a software compliance audit initiated by a software publisher or their proxy.
Perform reconciliation between asset records in the ServiceNow central repository with other relevant data sources; investigate and resolve exceptions and data accuracy issues and anomalies.
Establish processes governing the software lifecycle and collaborate with staff in other areas to effect the adoption of asset lifecycle processes globally.
Support GIS departments in various financial activities including, but not limited to, reconciling invoices, refresh planning, and the annual budget process.
Support Sourcing in the development of software purchasing standards, strategies, procedures, and volume purchasing initiatives including negotiation of price, terms, conditions, and warranties with key suppliers and publishers.
Coordinate with software asset suppliers and ensure acquisition processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with applicable standards and company guidelines.
Train and mentor other Software Asset Managers on all SAM topics.
Create and distribute new management reports as needed by the organization.
Maintain ITAM solution documentation.
Monitor system interfaces and scheduled imports, reports, and exports; resolve errors and exceptions.
Contribute as the SAM subject matter expert to utilize/exploit the data to advance the goals of Client GIS. Analyze asset data and make recommendations on how to use the assets to optimize financial investment, reduce business risk, and increase operational effectiveness.
Maintain competence in SAM industry practices and technologies, compare against the organization, and make recommendations and changes accordingly as part of a cycle of continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or other related field or equivalent work experience.
Typically has 3 to 5 years of business experience related to Software asset management, procurement and/or service contract management.
ITAM-related certification, e.g., CAMP, CHAMP, CSAM, a definite plus.
Possesses solid working knowledge of the asset types under governance and their lifecycles.
Strong familiarity and technical competence with ITAM applications; ServiceNow a definite plus.
Experience in liaising with middle and senior management and ability to tactfully work with suppliers and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of products and services.
General knowledge of accounting, finance, logistics, budgeting, inventory, and cost-management
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources.
The ability to uphold the goals and culture of the organization.
The ability to understand the values of team members and to motivate them appropriately.
An understanding of strategic business objectives and the ability to drive results toward those objectives.
