Job Summary:
The Software Asset Management Manager will be involved in the management of software assets: controls, acquisition, decommissions, compliance, maintenance renewals, life cycle planning, capacity planning and costing. This position reports to the Director of IT Commercial Governance which is an area under the CIO.
Job Responsibilities:
Track software deployment and decommission to maintain an accurate and current effective license position for all software licenses.
Facilitate and optimize the needs for ongoing technical support and upgrade protection on selected products by ensuring maintenance, support and upgrade protection renewals are managed/handled/ordered in advance of their expiration.
Identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, and services. Follow through with vendors, resellers and other IT groups to obtain identified savings.
Manage software contracts and relationships with vendors and resellers to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.
Collect information for budgeting, software compliance & inventory, capacity planning, contract summaries, and cost comparisons.
Coordinate with other IT Commercial Governance teams to enter and maintain information in a repository to address budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contracts, and cost. Assist in the development of reporting to address management requirements to obtain information.
Respond to requests from end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Software Asset Management data information.
Provide periodic software usage analysis and reports outlining use, efficiencies/optimizations and possible cost savings.
Manage requests from external entities related to software audits.
Assist IT sourcing team with software contract negotiations.
Required Skills/Experience:
5 to10 years of Information Technology experience, with at least 3 years of Software Asset Management.
IT Asset Management and Discovery Tools experience (SCCM, ILMT, SNOW, Flexera, etc
Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions
Strong negotiating ability; a hard and fair negotiator with the company’s financial and compliance needs in mind
Good at organizing and managing multiple priorities and/or projects by using appropriate methodologies and tools.
Effectively and efficiently communicate in various modes with all levels of personnel, both internally and externally.
Able to introduce new ideas and processes which improve performance and productivity.
A problem solver with the ability to encourage others in collaborative problem solving. Acting as both a broker and consultant regarding resources, engage others in problem solving without taking over.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or a related field
IAITAM/CSAM certification (is preferred)
