Software Asset Management Analyst
On behalf of our client, Procom Services is searching for a Software Asset Management Analyst for a contract opportunity in Plano, TX.
Software Asset Management Analyst Job Details
The SAM Analyst will support the Software Asset Manager and SAM processes to
reduce the cost of software, protect the company from legal, and financial risks, and to
optimize software deployments for the business users. Prepares, analyzes, and selects methods of presenting data. Summarizes data analysis in written reports. From information gathered, suggests future development and enhancement options. Coordinates and monitors special projects. Assumes managerial responsibilities. Requires broad knowledge of Technology in area to which assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Analyze, design, or re-design SAM and compliance processes, software
procurement processes, and license management processes (harvesting,
deployment, and retiring of licenses)
-Create and maintain document repositories for software license contracts and
purchases, as well as design and improve the process of capturing new contracts
and purchase records
-Create regular compliance reports and analyses to present to license owners and
management
-Design, build, and optimize key data reports that build accurate compliance
reporting
-Analyze software usage to determine potential efficiencies and cost savings,
continuously innovating and improving processes
-Develop and maintain working relationships across multiple functions to support
software asset management throughout its lifecycle
-Develop working relationships with software publishers and vendors to leverage
valuable resources, such as free training, usage analysis, new software license
schemes and maintenance agreements
-Manually create and modify IT asset records in the SAM tool and mature the
effective use of it
-Ensure all changes to agreements and contracts are accurately reflected in the
SAM tool
-Ensure all purchases are uploaded and updated in the SAM tool
-Manage missing hardware assets to maintain an accurate software inventory in
the SAM Tool
-Make recommendations to the purchase requisition process to accurately record
software purchases
-Measure improvements to SAM through meaningful metrics, KPIs, and QBRs
-Continuously improve and innovate software asset management processes and
best practices
Software Asset Management Analyst Mandatory Skills
The following experience is considered essential:
-Prior Software Asset Management experience as analyst is required
-Bachelors in Computer Science, IT, Business Administration, or equivalent
experience
-Excellent customer service and communication skills
-Complete understanding of software lifecycle management
-Effective project management and organizational skills
-Familiarity with IT terminology, technologies, processes, and management
-Excellent ability to work on multiple projects, priorities, and tasks independently
-Excellent problem-solving skills
-Confident ability to respectfully deal with colleagues at all levels within the
company and represent the company externally
-Excellent ability to schedule meetings in a global environment being respectful of
customer’s needs and time zones
-Excellent ability to document processes, procedures, definitions, and work-flows
PREFERED SKILLS:
-Experience with software licensing in general
-Experience with ServiceNow, hardware and software discovery, and software
usage data
-Solid licensing knowledge in at least one of the larger software publishers, such
as Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, HP, or Adobe
-Good working knowledge of all major operating systems and hardware platforms
-IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager, or similar, certification
-Strong understanding of ITIL
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant
work experience is required.
